Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brock Lesnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ron Honeybunn and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir connects with the punch.
Mir throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lesnar.
Lesnar bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Mir thuds his right hand into Lesnar's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Mir shoots in but no luck this time.
Mir throws a nice looking combination but Lesnar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mir tries for a takedown but Lesnar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mir loads up on a big right hand but Lesnar slips the punch.

Mir tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lesnar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Nice uppercut lands for Mir. That snapped Lesnar's head back.
Mir throws a right hand that Lesnar ducks under and follows up with a left that Lesnar also avoids with ease.
Lesnar shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mir pinned against the cage. Mir gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lesnar attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

The fighters circling - Mir throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lesnar keeps working.
Mir just content to control the position.

Mir looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Mir creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lesnar sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Lesnar is trying to escape the position but Mir is controlling the position.

Mir thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lesnar gets back to half guard.

Lesnar looking for submissions off his back.

Mir trying to control from Lesnar's half guard. Lesnar has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Mir lands a couple of digs.

Mir has gone for a leg lock! Lesnar slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mir's guard.

Lesnar seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Mir breaks Lesnar's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Mir wants to control from the top but Lesnar keeps moving.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mir fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Brock Lesnar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mir moves in looking to clinch but Lesnar pushes him off.
Mir lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Mir lands an overhand right.
Mir shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lesnar but Lesnar pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Brock Lesnar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.

Mir is trying to stand up here but Lesnar is controlling him well.

Lesnar is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Mir has one foot on Lesnar's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Lesnar tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mir sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lesnar somewhat.

Mir closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lesnar did well to prevent Mir getting side control.

Mir is looking for a kimura here.
Lesnar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mir is trying to control the action in half guard but Lesnar is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mir looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

My spies in The Shield inform me that Mir has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Mir seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lesnar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Lesnar tries to roll over but Mir keeps him under control.
Lesnar is staying active underneath Mir, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lesnar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Mir counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Lesnar walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mir closes the distance and clinches up with Lesnar, looking for a takedown. Mir pushes Lesnar against the cage but Lesnar circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Lesnar counters with a shoot takedown. Mir fights it but they end up in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Frank Mir will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Lesnar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mir can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lesnar looking for a triangle here. Mir is fighting it but it looks tight! Lesnar pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Mir is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Brock Lesnar!
After winning the bout, Brock Lesnar thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
