PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stefano Kolano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jerry Larson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stefano Kolano!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Larson shoots in and bounces Kolano off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Larson bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jerry Larson.

Kolano gets caught flat footed, as Larson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Larson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Larson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Larson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Larson wants to control the pace but Kolano is squirming around nicely.
Kolano is trying to escape the mount.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Larson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kolano for as long as he can get away with.
Kolano tries to reverse the position but Larson maintains control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jerry Larson.

and Larson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kolano won't be happy with that.
Larson works to advance to full mount. Kolano defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Larson throwing strikes here but Kolano is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Larson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jerry Larson dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Larson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Larson wants it to stay on the feet.
Kolano shoots in but Larson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Larson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kolano napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kolano can't do much from the bottom here.
Larson is staying tight to Kolano's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Larson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Larson looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Larson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Kolano is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Well Larson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
