Gracie moves forwards but Ertz connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Gracie chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ertz can pounce on him.

Ertz fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Gracie is out of range.
Gracie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

The fighters circle momentarily. Gracie darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Ertz walks into a straight right hand from Gracie.

Ertz throws the left hand but Gracie avoids the punch easily.
Gracie misses with a hook. Ertz ducked under it nicely.
Gracie fails to land with a series of punches.

Ertz lands a nice shot that snaps Gracie's head back.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Gracie is controlling Ertz's trapped leg to prevent Ertz from advancing to side control.
Gracie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ertz tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gracie knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ertz.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gracie is on top in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ertz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ertz wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment.
Gracie passes into half guard.
Ertz is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gracie scores with a couple of nice shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie is working for a kimura but Ertz is defending it quite comfortably.

Ertz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Gracie is looking to control Ertz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gracie avoid being mounted?
Gracie tries to get to full guard but Ertz has control of the leg.
Ertz looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Gracie on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Gracie is controlling Ertz's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ertz connects with a nice short shot to Gracie's temple.

Ertz tries to stand and escape but Gracie is controlling the position.
Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ertz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Ertz stands up and waves to Gracie to follow him.

Gracie takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Gracie takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

and Ertz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ertz scores with a leg kick.
Gracie throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ertz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ertz stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Ertz throws a lazy right hand but Gracie sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gracie throws a right and a left that Ertz avoids nicely.

A head kick lands from Ertz that sends Gracie to the canvas. Gracie tries to scramble back to his feet but Ertz brings him back down into side control.

Gracie is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ertz lands a strong strike to the head of Gracie. That's dazed him! Ertz looking to finish here. Gracie is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Ertz lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

After winning the bout, Zack Ertz thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
Hilio Gracie was interviewed post fight and said 'IM DISAPOINTED IN MY PROFORMENCE.... TODAY JUST WASNT MY DAY. I NEVER LOST 2 FIGHTS IN A ROW BEFORE SO THIS IS REAL UPSETTING FOR ME TODAY. "BUT I'LL BE BACK!"'.
