Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jock McKnee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Santiago Johnston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jock McKnee!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Sergei Dronov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKnee throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Johnston staying out of range there.

McKnee throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Johnston was covering up waiting for the punch and McKnee finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

McKnee stands up and waves to Johnston to follow him.
Johnston takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Johnston gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnston wants to stand up but McKnee is controlling him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McKnee is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McKnee is looking to work some ground and pound but Johnston has wrist control.
McKnee content to stall in guard here.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
McKnee throwing strikes but missing.
Johnston is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McKnee controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Jock McKnee has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

McKnee has closed the distance and engaged Johnston in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McKnee tightens his grip and picks Johnston up, before dumping him to the ground. Johnston manages to land in guard.

McKnee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
McKnee's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jock McKnee was stalling too much, according to the referee.

McKnee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Johnston throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! McKnee escapes and throws Johnston's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Johnston is breathing heavily.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

McKnee decides to stand up, so the ref orders Johnston to his feet.

McKnee is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Johnston's half guard.
Johnston keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

McKnee stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Johnston throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McKnee shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnston's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McKnee controlling from the top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jock McKnee dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


McKnee scores with a jab to the head.
Johnston throws a nice outside leg kick.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Johnston enables McKnee to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Johnston manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McKnee is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jock McKnee has got the better of the ground game so far.
McKnee advances position into side control!
McKnee tries to move to mount but Johnston blocks the move with his legs.

McKnee stands up and we're back to a striking position.

McKnee gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
McKnee lands a nice elbow from the clinch.


It looks like Santiago Johnston has been cut.
McKnee tries to stall but Johnston uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Johnston looking to slow down the pace here.
Johnston is trying to break the clinch but McKnee is controlling him.
McKnee is looking to control Johnston's arms but Johnston gets an underhook and turns him. Now McKnee has his back to the cage.
Johnston looks to throw an elbow but misses.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McKnee manages to break the clinch.

McKnee pushes Johnston up against the cage in a clinch.

McKnee pulls guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McKnee is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Johnston defends well.
McKnee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Johnston won't allow McKnee to sweep him here.

Johnston got a little sloppy there for a moment and McKnee has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnston has managed to get both his arms back between McKnee's legs - danger averted.

McKnee manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnston manages to get himself to full guard.
McKnee wants to control from the top but Johnston keeps moving.
McKnee trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Johnston is looking for a triangle here but McKnee uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
McKnee wants to control for a moment but Johnston uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McKnee escapes and gets back to his feet.
Johnston throws a sloppy head kick
letting McKnee counter with a right hand.
Jock McKnee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McKnee pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
McKnee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Johnston manages to avoid it.

McKnee clinches.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnston is looking to break free of the clinch but McKnee has double underhooks.
Johnston stalling in the clinch but McKnee improves position.
Johnston really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McKnee looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

McKnee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
McKnee is looking to take a break and control but Johnston is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McKnee is taking a breather. Johnston says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Johnston is refusing to be controlled, as McKnee sits in half guard.
McKnee wants to advance to full mount but Johnston doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Johnston looking for submissions from the bottom but instead McKnee passes into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Johnston pushes McKnee off but McKnee dives into side control.

McKnee decides to stand back up. McKnee steps back and let's Johnston get back to his feet.

McKnee closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Johnston did well to prevent McKnee getting side control.
McKnee not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Johnston wants to sweep but McKnee has passed to side control!
McKnee staying calm.

McKnee is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Johnston has escaped the position, nice work there.
McKnee advances nicely into full mount.
McKnee controlling the position easily from mount.

McKnee lands a big elbow.
Johnston is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! McKnee has taken his back!

McKnee is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Johnston up.

McKnee keeps control of the position easily here as Johnston tries to buck him off.

Jock McKnee is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McKnee is riding his opponent, not letting Johnston buck him off.

Jock McKnee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McKnee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
