Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Taylor Castillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Kuris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Freddy Kuris has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Taylor Castillo's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Taylor Castillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Freddy Kuris!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Castillo closes the distance and clinches.
Kuris misses with an elbow over the top.

Kuris manages to break the clinch.
Kuris throws a head kick that misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Castillo.
Kuris dodges the punch combination from Castillo.
Kuris tries to close the distance and clinch up but Castillo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kuris throws a head kick but Castillo moves out of range.
Kuris throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Castillo fails with an attempt to clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Castillo.
Castillo just content to control the position.
Castillo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Kuris wants to control but Castillo postures up.
The referee asks Castillo politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Castillo prefers to stall for the moment though.

Kuris is letting Castillo control him for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Taylor Castillo just wasn't active enough.
Castillo swings for the body but Kuris moves out of range.
Some bone on bone action there as Castillo checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Freddy Kuris is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Castillo pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kuris tries to close the distance and clinch up but Castillo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Some wild striking there from Kuris.
Kuris looks winded!
Kuris thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Castillo if he has to take too many more of those.

Castillo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kuris, pushing him back against the cage.
Castillo misses with some punches.

Castillo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Kuris.
Kuris tries to close the distance and clinch but Castillo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kuris fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Castillo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Castillo has taken the fight to the clinch.

Castillo pulls guard successfully.
Castillo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kuris is controlling him.
Castillo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Castillo tries to get out of the position.
Kuris wants to stand but Castillo is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kuris must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kuris is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Castillo with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Kuris can't handle though.
Kuris has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Castillo is proving hard to escape from.
Castillo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Castillo is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Castillo has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Castillo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Castillo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kuris tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Kuris is breathing heavily.

Oooh a big shot gets through from Castillo. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Castillo has Kuris flattened out and is raining down punches.
Kuris really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Castillo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Castillo lands a shot to the body.
Kuris is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Kuris is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kuris is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Castillo.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Castillo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kuris for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Castillo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Castillo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Castillo jumps guard but Kuris turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Castillo is trying to force a seperation but Kuris has the dominant position.
Castillo blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Castillo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Freddy Kuris has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kuris lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kuris wants to clinch but Castillo slips to the side
and Castillo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Castillo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Castillo has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Taylor Castillo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kuris throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Castillo has closed the distance and engaged Kuris in a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Castillo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
