Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Johnson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Patterson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Johnson tries to bum rush Patterson with a series of wild strikes but Patterson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Johnson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Johnson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Patterson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Johnson.
Johnson throws a right and a left that Patterson avoids nicely.
Patterson shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Patterson looks to clinch
and Johnson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Johnson throws a looping overhand right but Patterson ducks down to avoid it.

Sam Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Johnson works over Patterson's head and body with a nice combination.
Patterson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Johnson tests Patterson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Patterson shoots for a double leg takedown but Johnson sprawls well. He's pushed Patterson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Patterson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Patterson shoots in looking for a takedown but Johnson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Patterson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Johnson lands with a nice combination. Patterson backs away looking to recover.
Johnson throws a combination that misses

and Patterson counters by clinching up.

Patterson manages to pull guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Patterson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Patterson is breathing heavily.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Patterson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Patterson's legs - danger averted.
Patterson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Patterson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Patterson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Johnson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Johnson shrugs it off.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Patterson has hold of Johnson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Johnson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Edison Patterson will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Johnson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Patterson counters with a three punch combo that has Johnson backing up. Johnson nods at Patterson to acknowledge the strikes.

and Patterson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Patterson creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Johnson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sam Johnson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Edison Patterson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Patterson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Johnson sprawls well. Johnson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Patterson gets slowly back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Sam Johnson.
I think Patterson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
