And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Greg Bice!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bice shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Kong eats them both and turns towards Bice to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Qing Kong has been cut.
Kong swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kong dodges the punch combination from Bice.
Qing Kong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bice misses the shot to the body.
Bice throws a head kick but Kong moves out of range.

Bice told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Kong lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes.

Kong landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Kong pushes Bice back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Bice is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kong is leaning against Bice and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Kong lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Kong utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Kong lands a left hand that snaps the head of Bice backwards.

Bice has a couple of punches blocked by Kong.
Bice tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Kong breaks the clinch momentarily and cracks Bice with a big right hook that drops him to the canvas! Bice looks like he might be in big trouble here! The referee has started the count straight away and we're up to 5 already. Bice get to one knee - can he make it back to his feet? Yes, he's struggled back up to his feet and seems OK to continue. The referee agrees so we're back to the action!

Kong digs a right hand underneath Bice's ribcage. Bice let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Kong lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Bice backwards.

Kong creates a bit of space and cracks Bice with an uppercut that drops him to the canvas! Bice is wobbled and seems to be struggling to get back to his feet. 3,4,5. He's up! Phew, his manager will be relieved but they're no doubt wondering whether he'll be able to recover properly and get back in the fight!
Kong tries to land a front kick but Bice steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kong misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kong looks to score with a jab to the body but Bice is just out of range.
Kong lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A chopping leg kick lands by Kong.
Good leg kick by Kong there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kong connects with a leg kick. Bice looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Kong moves into range and clinches up with Bice.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kong lands with a left to the head.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Kong creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Kong lands a hook to the side of the head.
A nice right hand lands inside from Kong.
Kong lands on the inside with an uppercut.
A hook to the body from Kong.
A left hand lands to the body for Kong.
Kong lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Bice.
Kong cracks Bice with a nice body shot.
Kong lands a nice shot to the body.
Bice takes a knee to the side of the body.
Kong scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Kong is working Bice over against the ropes.
Kong lands an elbow inside.
Kong digs a right hand into Bice's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Bice's gas tank.
Kong lands a right hand.
Kong creates a bit of space for himself and unleashed what can only be described as a tiger uppercut, straight out of Street Fighter! Bice crashes to the mat! Can he make it back to his feet in time? 3,4,5,6... it doesn't look like he's going to make it! Bice face plants back to the mat and the referee calls off the fight! Kong takes it with a brutal technical knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Qing Kong!
Qing Kong retains his welterweight title!
