Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Glen Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sandro Wilkes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sandro Wilkes will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Glen Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sandro Wilkes!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns tries to close the distance and clinch but Wilkes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sandro Wilkes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wilkes has a takedown stuffed.

Wilkes rushes Burns and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Wilkes wants to break the clinch but can't.
Wilkes goes for a takedown attempt but Burns pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Wilkes scores with a jab.
Wilkes tries a head kick but it misses.
Burns could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Burns wants to clinch.
Wilkes keeps the fight on the outside.

Wilkes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Glen Burns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sandro Wilkes.
Wilkes lands a head shot.
Burns takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Burns avoids the head kick by Wilkes.
Burns tries to clinch up but Wilkes circles away and keeps his distance.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Burns tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wilkes just stands there and leans against the cage.

Burns pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wilkes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wilkes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Burns counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Burns seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wilkes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Wilkes is trying to get back to full guard.

Burns is trying to control the action in half guard but Wilkes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Burns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Glen Burns just wasn't active enough.

and Burns counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Burns.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wilkes wants to break free but Burns has control.
Wilkes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Burns avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Burns with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Burns's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wilkes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Burns tries to avoid it but Wilkes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Burns to the ground. Burns escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Burns darts in trying to clinch
and Wilkes counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Glen Burns will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burns is trying to control. Wilkes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Glen Burns.

Burns gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Burns for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Burns is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Wilkes shoots in for a takedown but Burns shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Burns ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Burns no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Burns is on top in guard.
Burns postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Wilkes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Burns sprawls well. Burns wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wilkes gets slowly back to his feet.
Some bone on bone action there as Burns checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Burns, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
