Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kim Young Il (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marijo Palavra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Il comes into the arena with RATM - Renegades of Funk blaring out of the sound system. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Marijo Palavra was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marijo Palavra!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Il misses

and Palavra decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Il's guard.

Palavra is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Il is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Il has escaped and now he's on top!

Il avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Il trying to control but Palavra is working from the bottom.
Il is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Il wants to control from the top but Palavra keeps moving.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Il is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Palavra has his foot on Il's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Il works his way back into a safe position though.
Palavra wants to sweep here but Il controlling him for the moment.

Kim Young Il has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Palavra shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Palavra avoids the body shot from Il.

Palavra closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Il did well to prevent Palavra getting side control.

Palavra is working for a submission of some sort.
Palavra throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Palavra wants to pass the guard but Il is defending well.
Palavra thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Palavra is trying to control the action in half guard but Il is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Il is trying to maintain the position but Palavra is very close to passing his half guard.
Palavra wants to take a breather but Il is having none of it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Il is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at School Of Fighting, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Palavra thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Il's head.

Palavra winds up and cracks Il with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Palavra is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Il as he works his way to full guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Palavra working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Palavra accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Palavra wants to control from the top but Il keeps moving.
Il controls Palavra momentarily but Palavra frees himself.

Palavra missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Palavra gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Il counters with a nice body shot.
Palavra bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Palavra is defended easily by Il.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Il lands with a hook. Palavra tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Palavra looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Il is fending him off so far but Palavra persists. Nope, Il circles away and we're back to standing.

No joy there for Il, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Good leg kick by Il there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Il thows a left - swing and a miss!
Palavra fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Il avoids it really well and circles away.
Il tries to land a front kick but Palavra steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Il throws an overhand right that lands on Palavra's shoulder, as Palavra tries to avoid the shot.
Il connects with a crisp jab.
Palavra has his takedown stuffed
and Il counters with a slapping leg kick.
Kim Young Il has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marijo Palavra.

Palavra avoids the head kick by Il.
Palavra shoots for a takedown but Il saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Il lands a lovely overhand right.
Il connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Il swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Palavra shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Il pinned against the cage. Il gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kim Young Il is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Il fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Palavra misses with a takedown attempt - Il sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Il connects with a high kick.

Palavra is rocked!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Il.
Palavra is still on wobbly legs! Can Il finish him?

This has been an exciting period of action!
Palavra stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Il.

Il gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Il lands with a left to the head.

Il breaks the clinch.
Il uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Palavra has time to react.
Il throws a sloppy head kick and Palavra moves out of range easily.
Palavra tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Palavra gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Il gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Palavra is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
