Kehoe's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Angel Of Death. Alex Mercer has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Andrew Kehoe's chin.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alex Mercer!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Kehoe lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Kehoe throws a body punch but Mercer moves out of range.
Kehoe jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kehoe uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mercer.
Mercer missing with a left hand there. Kehoe was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Mercer wants to land a leg kick but Kehoe is out of range.
Mercer uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.


It looks like Andrew Kehoe has been cut.
Mercer slips under a jab.

Mercer throws the left hand but Kehoe avoids the punch easily.
Kehoe lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mercer will feel that in the morning.
Kehoe has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Outer Heaven Dojo - PIT Inc. in the buildup to the fight.

Good leg kick by Kehoe there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Andrew Kehoe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kehoe dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Mercer. That did some damage!

Kehoe throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kehoe is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Kehoe closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kehoe lands in his opponent's guard.
Kehoe pushes down on Mercer's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Kehoe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mercer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Mercer is trying to maintain the position but Kehoe is very close to passing his half guard.
Kehoe takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Mercer wants to get back to full guard.
Kehoe is looking to take a break and control but Mercer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kehoe thows a huge punch but Mercer dodges it nicely.
Kehoe not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Kehoe looks to land a strike but Mercer avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Kehoe looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Kehoe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mercer knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kehoe throws a big right hand that misses.

Mercer keeping moving, preventing Kehoe from controlling successfully.
Mercer pulls Kehoe in close to prevent any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mercer.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mercer scoring well with a low kick there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kehoe changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Kehoe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kehoe wants to land a leg kick but Mercer is out of range.
Kehoe avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kehoe misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mercer.
Kehoe cracks Mercer with an open hand slap.

Kehoe has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mercer finds it's way round the side to connect with Kehoe's head.
Mercer throws a low kick, looking for Kehoe's leg but Kehoe calmly moves out of range.
Kehoe tries to land a front kick but Mercer steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Mercer moves into range and connects with a jab.
Mercer uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kehoe.
Mercer lands with a kick to the temple. Kehoe shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Mercer scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mercer throws a lazy right hand but Kehoe sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kehoe misses with a few strikes there.
Mercer moves out of range of the body kick from Kehoe.
Kehoe cracks Mercer with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Mercer scores with a leg kick.
Mercer cracks the inside of Kehoe's front leg.
Kehoe swings widly with a right hand
and Mercer counters with a body kick that stops Kehoe in his tracks momentarily.
Mercer thumps Kehoe with a low kick.
Kehoe just misses with a punch to the body.
Mercer fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kehoe on the side of the head.
Mercer throws a nice outside leg kick.
Mercer misses with a kick to the body.
Kehoe connects with a leg kick. Mercer looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mercer misses with an uppercut.
Kehoe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mercer sprawls well. Mercer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kehoe gets slowly back to his feet.
Kehoe connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Kehoe displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mercer throws out the jab.

Kehoe misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kehoe throws a body kick that misses
and Mercer counters with a straight right hand.
Mercer scores with a sloppy right hand. Kehoe should have avoided that one.


Kehoe is rocked!
Kehoe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mercer manages to avoid it.
Oh Kehoe is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kehoe on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Kehoe seems to have got his legs back now.
Mercer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kehoe moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Mercer misses the target.
Mercer ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mercer keeps Kehoe at a distance using the push kick.
Kehoe is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Mercer misses with a hook.
Alex Mercer seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Kehoe tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Kehoe takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Kehoe lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mercer crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kehoe - the referee stops the clock and Mercer gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kehoe. Mercer manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Kehoe jabs Mercer to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Mercer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kehoe lands with an uppercut that bounces Mercer off the cage and back into range.
Mercer lands an overhand right.
Mercer connects with a looping right hand.
Mercer throws a shot to the body.
Mercer avoids the head kick by Kehoe.
Kehoe takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kehoe fails to land with a series of punches.
Kehoe looks up at the clock. Bad move! Mercer lands a right hand from hell, dropping Kehoe. Mercer pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Mercer!
Alex Mercer is the new welterweight champion!
Alex Mercer decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
