PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buddy Morales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Buddy Morales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Torres!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morales doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Torres counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Torres turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Torres manages to end up in side control.
Morales takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Morales can't do much from the bottom here.
Torres content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Torres cracks Morales with a big elbow.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Torres tries to advance to mount but Morales denies him.

Torres lands an elbow.
Torres in side control, just content to control the action for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A low kick from Torres misses
and Morales counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Torres decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Torres not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Torres blocks the strikes from Morales.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Torres in particular looking to stall.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Torres not landing any meaningful shots this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Torres gets tackled into the cage by Morales. Morales maintains the clinch.
Morales tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Torres smiles and moves away.

Torres drags the fight down to the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Torres can do anything to dispel that myth.
Torres avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Torres manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Morales manages to get himself to full guard.
Torres is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Torres postures up.
Torres controls from within his opponent's guard.
Torres won't allow Morales to get back to his feet.
Torres with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Morales really is a fat lump.
Torres keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Morales's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like Torres might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Morales closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Torres has picked Morales up - he's going for a ride! Torres dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Morales slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Torres throws a big right hand that misses.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Torres dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Morales pushes Torres up against the cage in a clinch.
Morales pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Morales using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Torres has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Morales is trying to keep an underhook but Torres manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Torres. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Torres has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Morales is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Morales is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
BOOM! Torres connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Torres controlling the pace for now.
Morales might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Torres postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Morales looks a forlorn figure.
Torres looking to control and managing it successfully.
Torres connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Torres tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Torres's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Torres breaks from Morales's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Torres looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Morales covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Torres!
