Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ellis Healing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Malcolm King!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King is looking to clinch.

Healing instigates a clinch.

Healing gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Healing tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Healing. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Healing wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
Healing is pushing down on King's leg trying to pass to half guard. King is fighting to maintain full guard but Healing has managed to sneak the leg through.
Healing missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

King is defending against the submission attempts here by Healing.
Healing has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Healing is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are battling for position here. King manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

King looking for a sweep. Not yet King, not yet.

Healing is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! King is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! King has escaped and now he's on top!
King distracts Healing with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Healing has his hands on King's head, controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Healing working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from King.
Healing looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
King trying to control the position from guard on top but Healing is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
King pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Healing is keeping the position for now.
King advances to half guard.
Healing slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
King throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Healing has King pulled in close to control his posture.
King throws an elbow that misses. Healing uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in King's guard. Nice move by Healing!
King looking for a sweep. Not yet King, not yet.
Healing wants to pass the guard but King is keeping the position.

King looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
King trying to control the position.
Healing looking to pass the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Healing forces his way into half guard.

Healing is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Healing looks to land a strike but King avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
King wants to sweep but no luck.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Healing's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Healing preventing the sweep.
King is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Healing is controlling him.
Healing wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ellis Healing dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


King closes this distance looking for a takedown but Healing circles away.
King tries a head kick but it misses.
King shoots in for a takedown but Healing shows good takedown defense.
King tries for a takedown but Healing sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ellis Healing has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Malcolm King.

Healing gets a double leg takedown into King's guard.

Healing drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but King manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Healing has King in his guard.
Healing pulls King in close to his closed guard and prevents King from doing any damage or advancing position.

King looking to sit in guard and control but Healing gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
King keeping full guard, as Healing tries to pass.
King manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Healing manages to get himself to full guard.
Healing working a defensive guard here.
King loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

King trying to control but Healing is working from the bottom.

King tries to free his leg and advance position but Healing is retaining full guard.

Healing is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but King frees his head nicely. Oh but Healing has switched to an armbar! King is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ellis Healing really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Speed Junkie Supplements + Laundry logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
