Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dean Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Cronkite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cronkite has chosen Croc song! as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dean Martin !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Melvin Cronkite!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cronkite.
Cronkite has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Martin is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Martin misses with an uppercut.
Martin throws a series of punches but Cronkite moves out of range.

Martin looking to score a takedown here. Cronkite is defending well but Martin drives through and ends up in Cronkite's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Martin works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Cronkite won't allow Martin to pass to mount.
Cronkite is looking to improve his position.
Cronkite makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cronkite.
Martin stopping the sweep attempt from Cronkite.
Martin wants to pass the guard but Cronkite is keeping the position.

Cronkite looking for a sweep. Not yet Cronkite, not yet.
Martin lands a couple of digs.
Martin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cronkite is keeping the position for now.

Cronkite throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Martin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Martin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martin trying to control but Cronkite is working from the bottom.

Cronkite is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Martin is aware though and is defending well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Martin sitting in guard here, content to control.
Cronkite has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Martin has passed into side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Martin tries to move to full mount but Cronkite actually manages to regain half guard.
Martin wants to pass to mount but Cronkite is defending the position.
Cronkite is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Martin 's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Martin 's back!
Martin is trying to remain composed but Cronkite is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Cronkite lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Cronkite keeps control of the position as Martin tries to break free.

Martin trying to control the hands but Cronkite breaks the grip.

Cronkite looking for the choke from the back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Martin tries to escape the position.

Well, with Cronkite on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Martin is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Martin trying to control the action but Cronkite just sinks the hooks in.
Martin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Martin tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Melvin Cronkite dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Martin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Martin counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Martin .
Martin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cronkite swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Martin trying to control the position from guard on top but Cronkite is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cronkite avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cronkite manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Cronkite jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Martin manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Martin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Cronkite. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cronkite looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Martin is avoiding damage well.
Melvin Cronkite has got the better of the ground game so far.
You can see the frustration on Martin 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Cronkite tries to score with some ground and pound. Martin controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Cronkite working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Cronkite goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Martin rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cronkite's guard! Nice work there by Martin !

Cronkite keeping moving, preventing Martin from controlling successfully.

Cronkite is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Martin is aware though and is defending well.
Martin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cronkite's guard.
Cronkite regains full guard. Nicely done.
Martin throws a big elbow that misses.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Martin lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Martin stands and throws Cronkite's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Martin tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cronkite's legs.
Cronkite tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Martin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Martin throwing strikes but Cronkite manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Cronkite goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Martin rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cronkite's guard! Nice work there by Martin !
Martin is pushing down on Cronkite's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cronkite is fighting to maintain full guard but Martin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cronkite is looking for a sweep. Martin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Martin is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Martin is controlling the pace.
Cronkite is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cronkite is not content to let Martin control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cronkite is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Martin pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Martin dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Cronkite doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Martin counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Martin is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Cronkite has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Martin is looking to defend but Cronkite has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Martin ! Cronkite pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Martin taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Melvin Cronkite!
During a confident post fight interview, Melvin Cronkite thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
