Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sanford Sharpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kieran Dempsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kieran Dempsey has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Sanford Sharpe's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dempsey pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dempsey is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sharpe.

Dempsey shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Dempsey tries to stand and escape but Sharpe actually recovers to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dempsey accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Dempsey trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sharpe's guard.
Sharpe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dempsey's guard.
Sharpe is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Sharpe's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Dempsey pushes Sharpe off looking to stand but Sharpe dives back in and keeps control.

We're going to have a standup here because Sanford Sharpe wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Dempsey scores with a takedown into Sharpe's guard.

Sharpe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sharpe stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Dempsey tries to clinch but Sharpe moves away

and Sharpe counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sharpe.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Dempsey just misses with a elbow thrown towards Sharpe's brow.
Dempsey tries to circle away but Sharpe has him pinned against the cage.

A frustrated look appears on Dempsey's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Sharpe could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sharpe avoids the elbow strike from Dempsey, against the cage.

Sharpe has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dempsey uses from the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dempsey drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sharpe dives on top into guard.

Dempsey isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sharpe stacks Dempsey on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sharpe!
The referee asks Sharpe politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sharpe prefers to stall for the moment though.

Sharpe has hold of Dempsey's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Dempsey tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Sharpe cranks the arm and Dempsey screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Dempsey, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
