Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Choake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iqbal Al Mamood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Choake's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Hans Zimmer - The Kraken. Al Mamood comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Mamute Pequenino kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Iqbal Al Mamood!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choake bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Al Mamood bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Al Mamood throws a hook but Choake blocks it.
Choake moves away from the strike by Al Mamood.
Choake scores with a push kick.
Choake scores with a push kick.
Al Mamood blocks the body kick.
Choake misses with a takedown attempt - Al Mamood sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Choake counters with a body kick.
Al Mamood misses with an uppercut. Choake saw that one coming.
Al Mamood throws a shot from downtown. Choake moves away and avoids it.
Nice jab there from Al Mamood.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Choake shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Al Mamood is trying to defend but Choake finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Choake looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Al Mamood accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Choake is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Al Mamood wants to lay and pray for a moment but Choake keeps working.
Al Mamood is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Choake has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Al Mamood is working away from the top position though.

Choake looking to hit a scissor sweep but Al Mamood is one step ahead there.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Iqbal Al Mamood was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Choake uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Al Mamood.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Choake is trying to trip Al Mamood. He has hold of a leg but Al Mamood is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Choake persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Choake wants to control from the top but Al Mamood keeps moving.
Choake looking to sit in guard and control but Al Mamood gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Iqbal Al Mamood will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Choake throws a low kick but Al Mamood moves out of range easily.

Choake throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Al Mamood's waist but Al Mamood gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Choake off to one side.

Choake closes the distance and pushes Al Mamood back into the cage.
Choake blocks an uppercut.
Al Mamood blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Choake drops down looking for an ankle pick but Al Mamood pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Choake makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Al Mamood really felt that one!
Iqbal Al Mamood is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Choake moves out of range as Al Mamood strikes.
Al Mamood on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Choake misses with a body kick.
Choake looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Al Mamood might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Choake looks to score with a jab to the body but Al Mamood is just out of range.

Choake closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Choake lands in his opponent's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Choake will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jermaine Choake overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Choake is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Iqbal Al Mamood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Choake feints and then cracks Al Mamood's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Al Mamood down.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Choake - that will leave a mark!

Al Mamood cracks Choake with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Choake looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Al Mamood finish him?

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Al Mamood crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Choake - the referee stops the clock and Al Mamood gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Choake. Al Mamood manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

and Choake makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Choake throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Choake shoots in for a takedown but Al Mamood shows good takedown defense.

Al Mamood cracks Choake with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Choake looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Al Mamood finish him?
Oh Choake is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Al Mamood cracks Choake with a brutal left hook that knocks him out cold! This one is over in a flash! Game over!
