Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Gryphen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyov Kirijenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gryphen comes to the cage accompanied by Tubthumping. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Forrest Gryphen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Lyov Kirijenko!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gryphen on the wrong end of a nice jab.
No joy there for Kirijenko, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gryphen just misses with a punch to the body.
Gryphen with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Gryphen walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Kirijenko checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Kirijenko misses with a looping left.
Gryphen cracks the inside of Kirijenko's front leg.
Gryphen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kirijenko lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Kirijenko cracks Gryphen with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kirijenko finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Gryphen tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Gryphen is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kirijenko is defending well for now.
Gryphen lands a good knee to the midsection. Kirijenko won't want to take too many of those.

Gryphen does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gryphen throws a right hand that Kirijenko ducks under and follows up with a left that Kirijenko also avoids with ease.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kirijenko tries to clinch up but Gryphen circles away and keeps his distance.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lyov Kirijenko will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Kirijenko has closed the distance and engaged Gryphen in a clinch.
Gryphen is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Gryphen lands an elbow just above Kirijenko 's eye.

Kirijenko is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gryphen pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Forrest Gryphen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyov Kirijenko.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kirijenko lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Gryphen has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Gryphen and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Gryphen avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gryphen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kirijenko scores with the left hand. Gryphen knows he should have avoided that one.
Gryphen walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Gryphen tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Kirijenko is able to avoid easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kirijenko utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kirijenko is still in real trouble! Can Gryphen finish him?
Gryphen passes Kirijenko's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Well, if Gryphen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Forrest Gryphen dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Kirijenko darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Gryphen has hold of Kirijenko's hands but Kirijenko slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kirijenko looks to land a strike but Gryphen avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Kirijenko drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gryphen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kirijenko has Gryphen in his guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lyov Kirijenko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kirijenko has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
