PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between AnthonyH Moreno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Virgil Keller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keller comes into a darkened arena with his song building. War Music kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, AnthonyH Moreno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Virgil Keller!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moreno moves into the clinch successfully.
Keller lands a right hand that snaps the head of Moreno backwards.

Moreno's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Keller throws a looping overhand right but Moreno ducks down to avoid it.
We've been told by Moreno's head coaches at Main Event Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Moreno keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Moreno tries to clinch up but Keller circles away and keeps his distance.
Moreno tries to close the distance and clinch up but Keller swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Moreno decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Keller is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Moreno scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Moreno is trying to control the action in half guard but Keller is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Keller has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Keller is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Moreno's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Moreno's back!

Keller is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Moreno knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Moreno for a finish.

Moreno is trying to escape under a series of strikes and manages to escape from Keller 's hooks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moreno gets back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Keller tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Keller has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Moreno manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Keller has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Moreno has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Keller's lack of action.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Moreno is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Keller slips a nice elbow through Moreno's hands, connecting with Moreno's forehead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Virgil Keller dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


That kick from Moreno tenderised Keller's leg. Keller is trying to keep his angry face on.
Moreno steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Keller.

Moreno shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Keller has hold of Moreno's hands but Moreno slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Moreno scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Moreno thows a huge punch but Keller dodges it nicely.
Keller regains full guard. Nicely done.
Moreno keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Keller's head.

Keller is looking for a triangle but Moreno pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Moreno lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Moreno trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Keller is on top in guard.
Keller slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Keller tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
You can see the frustration on Moreno's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Keller is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Moreno knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Keller tries to advance to mount but can't.

Keller goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Moreno has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Keller but great work by Moreno.

Moreno misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Moreno thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Keller manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Moreno is trying to stand back up but Keller is controlling him
Moreno keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Keller passes to side control.

Keller is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Moreno has escaped the position, nice work there.

Keller decides to stand up, so the ref orders Moreno to his feet.

Moreno takes a jab right on the kisser.
AnthonyH Moreno is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A slapping leg kick lands for Keller.
A thudding body kick lands there by Moreno!

Moreno throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Keller was covering up waiting for the punch and Moreno finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Keller utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Moreno throws a big elbow that misses.

Keller is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Moreno is aware though and is defending well.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Keller has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Moreno is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Keller.
Moreno connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Keller some visible discomfort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that AnthonyH Moreno will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Keller walks forward, straight into a front kick from Moreno.
Keller lands with a right hand.
A punch combination from Keller misses.
Keller throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Moreno wants to clinch up but Keller keeps it at a distance.
The fighters circling - Keller throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Moreno tries to clinch
and Keller connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Moreno is looking to control Keller's arms but Keller gets an underhook and turns him. Now Moreno has his back to the cage.
Keller managing to block the knees to the body from Moreno.

Moreno breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Moreno wants to clinch.
Moreno pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Moreno tries to close the distance and clinch up but Keller swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Moreno feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Keller lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Moreno!

Keller misses with a head shot.
Moreno is desperately trying to improve his position but Keller has a good base and remains in mount.
Keller is landing with some decent strikes but Moreno is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Keller is trying to control here but Moreno has managed to regain half guard.
Keller is looking to advance position but Moreno won't allow it.
Keller works his way into side control.

Moreno is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Keller asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Keller advances nicely into full mount.
The referee warns Moreno that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Moreno keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Moreno is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Keller misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Moreno regains half guard.
Moreno is looking for a sweep. Keller is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Keller uses his free foot to push down on Moreno's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Moreno.

Keller goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Moreno is on top in guard.
Keller looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Keller is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Moreno rolls with it to try and escape but Keller cranks on the arm and Moreno is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Virgil Keller!
An out of breath Virgil Keller thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
