The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonzo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Brown did well to prevent Gonzo getting side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Gonzo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brown does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Brown trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Gonzo manages to pass to mount!
Gonzo lands a big elbow.
Gonzo throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Brown is desperately trying to improve his position but Gonzo has a good base and remains in mount.
Gonzo has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Brown's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brown wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Gonzo.
Gonzo cracks Brown with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
