Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Silvera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kari Jurri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silvera comes into the arena with Wedlock blaring out of the sound system. Jurri has chosen Rising Darkness as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Joey Silvera!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kari Jurri!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jurri, right into the meat.
Jurri tries to land a leg kick but Silvera saw it coming and moves away.
Jurri lands with a cross.
Jurri keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Silvera.
Jurri ducks under a wild hook from Silvera.
Silvera misses with an uppercut.
Jurri lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A good leg kick by Jurri.
Jurri uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Silvera.
Jurri misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've been told by Silvera's head coaches at Zero Tolerance that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Jurri has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Jurri throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Silvera on the side of the head.

Silvera swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Silvera takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Silvera takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jurri throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jurri avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Joey Silvera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Silvera lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Silvera thows a body shot but no joy.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jurri cracks Silvera with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Jurri decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silvera's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Silvera has his feet on Jurri's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Silvera takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Jurri pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jurri throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Jurri takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Jurri cracks Silvera with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Jurri looks for the body kick but Silvera saw that one coming.
Silvera tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jurri swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Silvera moves out of range as Jurri throws a body kick.
Silvera scores with a jab.
Silvera checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Silvera looks to land a combination but Jurri avoids it well.
Silvera misses with a low kick.
Silvera lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
A nice inside leg kick there by Jurri. That's going to slow Silvera down.
Jurri moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Jurri keeps the fight on the outside.

Jurri jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nice shot lands for Silvera.
Jurri lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Jurri throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Silvera's head.
Jurri tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Silvera is able to avoid easily.
Silvera moves to clinch but Jurri breaks away
and Jurri connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jurri lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Jurri connects with a solid leg kick.
Silvera swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Silvera on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Silvera tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Silvera wants to clinch up but Jurri keeps it at a distance.

Silvera takes the fight into the clinch.

Jurri lands a right hand.
Jurri lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Silvera backwards.

Jurri breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jurri's corner calls for a 1-2. Jurri obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Silvera is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silvera looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Jurri counters with a takedown into side control.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Silvera is not content to let Jurri control the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jurri wants to control for a moment but Silvera uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Silvera chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jurri can pounce on him.
Silvera swings and misses with a hook to the body.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jurri has his foot on Silvera's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silvera works his way back into a safe position though.

Silvera wanted to stand there but Jurri had control of the position.

Jurri working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silvera doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silvera manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jurri is pulling down on Silvera's head. It's preventing any offense from Silvera, at least for the moment.

Silvera stands up from Jurri's guard - Silvera perhaps looking for a knockout.

Jurri paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Silvera throws a solid leg kick but Jurri takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Silvera.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jurri throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Silvera's head.

Kari Jurri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jurri is keen to just control but Silvera is a slippery customer.

Jurri goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Silvera turns into him and now he's in Jurri's guard.
Jurri is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jurri throwing shots but Silvera is blocking nicely.
Silvera tries to kick Jurri off but Jurri keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Jurri is taking a breather. Silvera says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Jurri wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silvera keeps working.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jurri looking for a submission but Silvera manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kari Jurri really dominated that round.
That's time! Silvera's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Jurri throws a body kick that misses.
Silvera clobbers Jurri with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Jurri lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Silvera swings for the body but Jurri moves out of range.
Silvera uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Silvera takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Silvera tries to clinch but Jurri moves out of range.

Silvera closes the distance and pushes Jurri back into the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silvera makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.


Jurri is rocked!
Silvera managing to block the knees to the body from Jurri.
Jurri is still on wobbly legs! Can Silvera finish him?
Silvera is working the Thai clinch up against the cage. He yanks Jurri's head to one side and delivers a picture perfect knee, right on the button! Boom! Down goes Jurri! He's out! He's out! The fight is over, just like that!
