The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coogan dives in for a single leg takedown but Voller sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Coogan is trying to push Voller away but Voller has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Coogan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Voller manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Voller swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Coogan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Voller moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Voller feints and then cracks Coogan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Coogan down.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Voller bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Coogan's head.
Voller ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Coogan moves away.
Voller fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Coogan on the side of the head.
Lars Voller seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Coogan gets a takedown into half guard.
Coogan is thwarting Voller's attempts to control the position.
Voller has a hand on Coogan's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Coogan takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Coogan throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Voller because Coogan loaded up on that one.

Coogan swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Voller is now in Coogan's guard. A big mistake from Coogan there, giving up the dominant position!

Voller frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Coogan gets back to half guard.
Coogan wants to improve his position but Voller is controlling well.

Coogan throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Voller manages to pass to side control.
Voller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Coogan keeps working.

Voller working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
You can see the frustration on Coogan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Coogan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Coogan there as he acknowledges the shot.

Voller throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Voller throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Coogan steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Voller. That one must have hurt.
Voller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Voller thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Coogan if he has to take too many more of those.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Voller connects with a good right hand that stumbles Coogan. Coogan circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Coogan takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Coogan will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
