Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugh Janus!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Janus fails in his attempt to clinch.
Janus misses with a series of wild punches.
Janus displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Berdich.
Janus doesn't manage to clinch there - Berdich circles away.
Janus tries to clinch there but Berdich circles away.
Berdich will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Berdich tries to keep at a distance but Janus has taken the fight into the clinch.
Janus lands a knee to the head.
Berdich fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Berdich. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Janus scores a nice knee to the body.
Berdich fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Berdich avoiding damage as Janus throws knees to the body.
Berdich jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Janus walks away with a smile on his face. Berdich gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Janus keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Berdich shoots in for a double leg but Janus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Berdich avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Berdich closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Janus is trying to buck Berdich off.
Berdich scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Janus to see if he's OK.
We've been hearing that Berdich has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Janus felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Berdich has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Berdich winds up and cracks Janus with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Berdich throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Berdich has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Berdich lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Berdich cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Janus takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


Janus is rocked!

Janus really wants to buck Berdich off and get back to his feet.

Janus is still in real trouble! Can Berdich finish him?
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Janus is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Janus seems to have recovered his senses.
Janus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Berdich. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Berdich fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Berdich lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Berdich connects with a bit shot that sees Janus covering up! More strikes from Berdich and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Berdich is our winner by TKO!

During a confident post fight interview, Andy Berdich thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
