The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Filgueiras shoots in and drives through. Alvarez sprawls well.

Filgueiras gets a double leg takedown into Alvarez's guard.

Filgueiras is nestled in close to Alvarez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Filgueiras wants to work for an arm triangle but Alvarez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Filgueiras is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alvarez is just riding it out for now. Filgueiras eventually gives up the hold.
