Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Ratliff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vilis Valdis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vilis Valdis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Douglas Ratliff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vilis Valdis!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Bruno Hogan and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valdis throws a series of punches but Ratliff moves out of range.
Valdis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ratliff.
Valdis lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ratliff at a distance.
Ratliff really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Valdis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ratliff to the ground. Valdis is now in Ratliff's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Valdis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

You can see the frustration on Ratliff's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Vilis Valdis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Valdis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
