Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Georgio Socrates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Young Gu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Socrates comes to the cage accompanied by Tool - Schism. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gu swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Socrates has a takedown stuffed.

Socrates on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Socrates shoots for a takedown but Gu saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Georgio Socrates. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gu scores with a crisp jab that stopped Socrates in his tracks.

Gu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gu connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Gu throws a lazy right hand but Socrates sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Socrates drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Socrates fails to land the takedown.
Gu scores with a jab to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Socrates looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Socrates shoots in looking for a takedown. Gu tries to sprawl out of it but Socrates keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Socrates walks into a jab.
Socrates shoots in looking for a takedown but Gu manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Socrates's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gu looks to land a right hand but Socrates moved out of range.
Gu jabs Socrates to the body, keeping him at a distance.
A lazy left from Gu finds it's target.
Socrates wants to clinch up but Gu keeps it at a distance.
Georgio Socrates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gu darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Socrates is trying to control but can't.

Gu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gu takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Socrates takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Socrates tries to lock up and control but Gu gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gu is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Socrates is trying desperately to improve position.

Socrates is rocked!
Gu loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Socrates scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Gu land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Gu stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Young Gu!
Young Gu is the new lightweight champion!
In his post fight interview, Young Gu started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
