The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dragon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Van Winkle avoids it really well and circles away.
Dragon slips under a jab.
Van Winkle misses with a straight left.
Van Winkle throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dragon.

Dragon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Van Winkle circles away.
A jab lands there for Van Winkle.
Van Winkle darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Dragon shoots for a takedown but Van Winkle saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Dragon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Van Winkle rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Dragon counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Dragon is working for a kimura but Van Winkle is defending it quite comfortably.
Dragon is looking to take a break and control but Van Winkle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Van Winkle is trying to maintain the position but Dragon is very close to passing his half guard.

Van Winkle is trying to stand up here but Dragon is controlling him well.

Dragon is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Van Winkle sees it coming and defends easily.

Dragon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Van Winkle is just riding it out for now. Dragon eventually gives up the hold.
Dragon is trying to control. Van Winkle wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Dragon throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Van Winkle has left one of his arms exposed and Dragon doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Van Winkle screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
