The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Allen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mendez.
Mendez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Allen moves away.
Mendez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Allen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Allen cracks the inside of Mendez's front leg.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mendez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Mendez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Allen was well out of range. Poor timing from Mendez.

Allen fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mendez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Allen dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Mendez. That did some damage!

Good leg kick by Allen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

It looks like George Mendez has been cut.
