The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
A combination from Ataides does no damage.
Ataides misses with a looping left.
Davis slips a straight right by Ataides.
Davis slips a jab and a cross from Ataides.
Davis lands a front kick.
Davis lands a leg kick that knocks Ataides off balance momentarily.
Ataides misses with a left hand
and Davis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ataides's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Davis trying to control but Ataides is working from the bottom.
Davis with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ataides's head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Davis has gone for a leg lock! Ataides slips out almost immediately though and dives into Davis's guard.
Ataides postures up in Davis's guard and throws a big left but Davis blocks it.
Davis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Davis is trying to control the action in half guard but Ataides is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Ataides wants to get back to his feet.
Ataides is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Davis scores with a couple of nice shots.
Davis is controlling the pace.
Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ataides keeps working.

Ataides on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ataides tries to get out of the position.
Davis winds up and cracks Ataides with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Davis is working for a kimura but Ataides is defending it quite comfortably.
Davis is trying to control the action in half guard but Ataides is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ataides tries to kick Davis off but Davis keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Davis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ataides with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ataides is trying to stand back up but Davis is controlling him
Davis drops an elbow to the side of Ataides's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Davis lands a nice short elbow.
Davis scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Davis looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Ataides wants to get back to his feet.
Davis thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Davis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ataides is not content to let Davis control the position.
Davis prevents Ataides from standing back up.
Davis is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Davis tries to pass to full mount but Ataides defends it.
Ataides is trying to stand back up but Davis is controlling him
Davis lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Ataides on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Ataides is not content to let Davis control the position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Davis connects with a nice short shot to Ataides's temple.
Ataides wants to get back to his feet.

Davis lands with a punch from half guard.

Ataides is defending against the submission attempts here by Davis.

Ataides is staying active underneath Davis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ataides is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Davis scores with a couple of nice shots.
Davis working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Davis is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Ataides is hurt! He's hurt bad - Davis fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Ataides from any more punishment! Congratulations to Davis! Great finish!
