The crowd seem to be enjoying Duggan's choice of entrance music: The Language - Drake. Derek Lynch could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jim Duggan's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Lynch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Duggan!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynch scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Lynch closes this distance looking for a takedown but Duggan circles away.
Lynch throws a big shot that misses.
Lynch fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lynch tried to score with a low kick but Duggan checks it.

Duggan gets the takedown into side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Duggan working the body and head with strikes.
Lynch parries the strikes from Duggan easily there. Duggan is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lynch to escape.
Duggan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lynch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Duggan lands a few punches from side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lynch sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Duggan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lynch's head.
My spies in BigMouth Cabrons inform me that Duggan has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Duggan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Lynch has hold of Duggan's hands but Duggan slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duggan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Lynch is looking to improve his position.

Duggan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Duggan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Duggan looks to land a strike but Lynch avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Duggan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lynch is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Duggan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Duggan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Duggan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Duggan is working Lynch over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Duggan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Duggan lands a couple of elbows.

Duggan looking to sit in guard and control but Lynch gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lynch won't allow Duggan to sweep him here.
Lynch advances to half guard.
Lynch works his way into side control.
Duggan is looking to regain half guard here but Lynch keeps moving and retains side control.
Duggan is not content to let Lynch control the position.

Lynch is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Duggan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Lynch is looking to take a break and control but Duggan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Duggan is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Lynch working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Duggan can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duggan is looking for a sweep.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Lynch tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lynch has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lynch advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jim Duggan will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Duggan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lynch's half guard.
Duggan is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Duggan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Lynch is looking for a sweep. Duggan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Lynch is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Duggan pulls his head out easily.
Duggan is keen to just control but Lynch is a slippery customer.
Duggan not doing much here.

Duggan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Lynch is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Duggan pulls his head out easily.

Duggan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lynch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Duggan has managed to get both his arms back between Lynch's legs - danger averted.
Duggan is in close to Lynch's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Duggan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jim Duggan has got the better of the ground game so far.
Duggan connects with a couple of short punches.
Lynch is trying to control the position but Duggan postures up.
Duggan is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Duggan throws a sloppy strike and Lynch has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Duggan is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Lynch!

A relieved looking Derek Lynch thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
