The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoops goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Heracles lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Hoops avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hoops shoots in but Heracles avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Hoops closes the distance and clinches.
Hoops can't break the clinch.
Heracles fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Heracles is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hoops's shoulder. That is not cool.

Hoops is pushing Heracles's head away, looking to escape. Heracles manages to hold on to the position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Hoops closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Heracles is looking to take a break and control but Hoops is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hoops can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hoops is staying active underneath Heracles, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Heracles wants to free his trapped foot but Hoops is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Marty Hoops seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Heracles is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Hoops flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Hoops is out cold! Heracles holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
