Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cletus Nash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ron VanCliffe!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

VanCliffe looking to score a takedown here. Nash is defending well but VanCliffe drives through and ends up in Nash's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Nash manages to escape and get back to his feet.
VanCliffe tries to clinch but Nash moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - VanCliffe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

VanCliffe looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
VanCliffe stopping the sweep attempt from Nash.

Nash working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. VanCliffe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. VanCliffe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nash is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst VanCliffe is controlling him.
VanCliffe wants to control from the top but Nash keeps moving.

Nash is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nash could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Nash throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
VanCliffe prevents Nash from getting back to his feet.
VanCliffe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nash looking to hit a scissor sweep but VanCliffe is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Nash lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for VanCliffe!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nash looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Nash is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, VanCliffe has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Nash cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
VanCliffe looks winded!
Nash sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
VanCliffe is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Nash postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. VanCliffe looks a forlorn figure.

VanCliffe is in a horrible position here. Nash smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
A nice elbow there by Nash.

Nash's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Nash is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! VanCliffe is forced to tap! Great finish!
