Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Krzysztof Kothciushco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Smiths!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kothciushco lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smiths circles away quickly and effectively.
Smiths is looking to clinch.
Smiths throws a hook but Kothciushco avoids it easily.
Smiths misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
John Smiths seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kothciushco moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kothciushco misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smiths throws a leg kick that is checked
and Kothciushco counters with a body kick that stops Smiths in his tracks momentarily.

Smiths changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kothciushco looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
You can see the frustration on Kothciushco's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Smiths in side control lands a decent elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kothciushco tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Smiths wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kothciushco, who protects the arm well.

Smiths trying to control the position but Kothciushco is working away.
Kothciushco is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Smiths has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Kothciushco is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Kothciushco gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Smiths wants to control but Kothciushco is keeping him busy.

Smiths is working for a kimura but Kothciushco is defending it quite comfortably.
Smiths is pressing down on Kothciushco's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kothciushco is holding on for now.
Kothciushco has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Smiths throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kothciushco manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Smiths moves in looking to clinch but Kothciushco pushes him off.

Smiths shoots in for a double leg but Kothciushco sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Smiths has Kothciushco up against the cage in a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smiths goes for a takedown attempt but Kothciushco pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Krzysztof Kothciushco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Smiths.

Smiths darts in and clinches Kothciushco up against the cage.
Smiths misses with an elbow strike.
Smiths goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kothciushco prevents it.

Smiths turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Smiths manages to end up in side control.

Smiths thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Smiths tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Kothciushco is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Smiths is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Kothciushco looks calm but he's in trouble here. Smiths gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Kothciushco is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Smiths lets go of the hold and Kothciushco can pop his arm back in it's socket.

An out of breath John Smiths thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
