Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Scotty Bennet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, A J Hearts!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hearts misses with an uppercut. Bennet saw that one coming.
Hearts misses the shot to the body.
We've been told by Bennet's head coaches at The Cooker that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hearts fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bennet manages to avoid it.

and Hearts takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Hearts has closed the distance and engaged Bennet in a clinch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hearts bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bennet's guard.
Bennet seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Hearts decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bennet's guard.

Bennet is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hearts is aware though and is defending well.

Hearts throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Bennet has control of Hearts's left arm, preventing Hearts from doing any damage.
Hearts wants to control from the top but Bennet keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Scotty Bennet just wasn't active enough.
Hearts just misses with a punch to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A head kick from Bennet lands but Hearts takes it in his stride.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Scotty Bennet will probably get the nod.
That's time! Bennet's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hearts takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Sloppy strikes from Hearts. Those never looked like landing.
Hearts throws a big shot that misses.
Bennet cracks Hearts with a good jab.
Hearts misses with a double jab.
A jab lands there for Bennet.
Bennet throws a hook to the side of Hearts's head but Hearts sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bennet looks to land a body kick but Hearts moved away.
Hearts lands a nice hook to Bennet's body. Bennet takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bennet lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hearts has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hearts and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Hearts wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Bennet swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Hearts counters with a shoot takedown. Bennet fights it but they end up in guard.
My spies in Gym Beam inform me that Hearts has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Bennet will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hearts wants to control but Bennet is having none of it.
Hearts sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Hearts pulls Bennet in close to his closed guard and prevents Bennet from doing any damage or advancing position.

A J Hearts showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hearts takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Hearts takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Bennet leaves Hearts with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Bennet feints and then cracks Hearts's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hearts down.
Hearts looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Hearts throws a body punch but Bennet moves out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bennet tries a head kick but it misses.
Hearts looks to throw the jab but Bennet is out of range.
Hearts will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Scotty Bennet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of A J Hearts.

and Bennet counters with a good low kick that Hearts was not able to check.
Bennet throws a nice outside leg kick.
Bennet takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Horrible takedown by Hearts or perhaps it was just good defense by Bennet which made him look bad.
Bennet is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hearts.

Hearts takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hearts throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bennet stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Hearts counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bennet won't be happy with that.

That was a close round but Scotty Bennet did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bennet is on top in guard.
Bennet is pushing down on Hearts's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hearts is fighting to maintain full guard but Bennet has managed to sneak the leg through.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Scotty Bennet will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Bennet clobbers Hearts with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Hearts bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Well, with Hearts on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Bennet is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

I really don't envy Hearts right now.

I would just about give that final round to A J Hearts.
