The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter misses with a takedown
and Tanaka counters with a stiff right hand.
Carter displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tanaka throws out the jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Carter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Tanaka misses the jab.
Tanaka listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Carter is rocked!

It looks like Elisha Carter has been cut.
Tanaka thows a left - swing and a miss!
Oh Carter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A telegraphed right hand from Tanaka misses the target.
Carter seems to have got his legs back now.
Tanaka misses with a left hand

and Carter counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tanaka tries to get to full guard but Carter has control of the leg.
Tanaka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tanaka has a hand on Carter's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Carter takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Tanaka swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Tanaka is trying desperately to improve position.

Tanaka wants to try and get back to his feet.
Tanaka tries to hold on but Carter postures up.
Carter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Tanaka is looking to improve his position but Carter isn't that keen on the idea.
Tanaka is in a horrible position here. Carter smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Carter lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Carter working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Tanaka turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Carter off and cradles Tanaka's limp body as Carter celebrates with his corner.
