PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Red Belt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Hyatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Belt's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Dance of the Knights. Hyatt has chosen Street fighter as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jimmy Hyatt has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Red Belt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Hyatt!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Belt with that takedown attempt.
Belt tries to clinch but Hyatt is having none of it.
Hyatt works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.


It looks like Red Belt has been cut.
A cross from Hyatt lands.

Belt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hyatt tries to buck Belt off but Belt is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on Hyatt's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hyatt is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Hyatt struggling a bit here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hyatt is trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Belt goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hyatt rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Belt's guard! Nice work there by Hyatt!
Belt wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Hyatt throws a big elbow that misses.

Belt is looking for a triangle here but Hyatt uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Hyatt happy to just control the position for now.
Belt is looking to reverse the position.
Hyatt taking a breather here.
Belt gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hyatt prevents Belt from improving his position.
Hyatt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Belt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hyatt is taking a breather. Belt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Belt moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Hyatt throwing strikes from guard but Belt blocks nicely.
Belt preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Belt is looking to stand back up but Hyatt counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Belt.
Belt is not content to let Hyatt control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hyatt thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Belt's head.
Belt keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jimmy Hyatt hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hyatt throws a jab but it's blocked by Belt.
Belt gets cracked there but stands up to it.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hyatt darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hyatt wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Belt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hyatt swivels and escapes.
Hyatt throws a nice head kick!

Hyatt misses with a hook to the body

and Belt counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Hyatt!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hyatt is trying to buck Belt off.

Belt is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hyatt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hyatt has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Belt tries for a kimura but Hyatt is defending well.
Belt throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Belt scoring with punches and elbows.
Belt looks up at the clock and then as Hyatt takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Belt smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hyatt pushes Belt away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Belt gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Belt looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hyatt is trying to control Belt's posture but Belt avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jimmy Hyatt will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Red Belt's cut.
That's time! Belt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hyatt misses with a looping left.
Jimmy Hyatt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hyatt scores with a jab to the head.
Belt takes one on the button.
Belt tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hyatt defends well and Belt ends up having to push Hyatt into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Belt gets control of Hyatt's arms and successfully pulls guard. Belt will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Hyatt controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Belt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hyatt trying to control but Belt is working from the bottom.
Hyatt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jimmy Hyatt.
Belt moves out of range as Hyatt strikes.

Hyatt dips to his left and cracks Belt with an uppercut!
Hyatt keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Hyatt misses the jab.
Hyatt misses with a low kick as Belt jumps back.
Belt misses with a takedown attempt - Hyatt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Belt tries to clinch up but Hyatt circles away and keeps his distance.
Good shot there by Hyatt.
Hyatt throws a wild body kick that Belt sees coming a mile off.
Hyatt looks to land a body kick but Belt moved away.
Belt misses with an uppercut
and Belt takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hyatt.
Belt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hyatt's waist but Hyatt gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Belt off to one side.
Belt looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Red Belt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hyatt throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hyatt throws a hook but Belt blocks it.
Hyatt will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Belt avoids the body shot from Hyatt.
Belt goes for a double leg but Hyatt avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hyatt continues to drive forward.

Hyatt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Belt shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hyatt but Hyatt pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hyatt connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Hyatt throws a leg kick but Belt sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Belt tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hyatt defends well and Belt ends up having to push Hyatt into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Hyatt lands a body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A left hand lands to the body for Hyatt.
Belt wants a takedown but no success here.
Hyatt lands with a left to the head.
A nice left hand lands by Hyatt.
Hyatt lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.


Belt is rocked!
A short right hand to the side of the head by Hyatt.
Oh Belt is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hyatt drops Belt onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Belt is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!


Red Belt's cut is getting worse.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A short body shot lands from Hyatt as the two fighters clinch.
Hyatt tries a knee to the head but Belt blocks it.
Still in the clinch, Hyatt scores with a nice short uppercut.

Hyatt manages to break the clinch.
Hyatt ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Belt moves away.
Belt shoots in for a double leg but Hyatt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hyatt swings for the body but Belt moves out of range.

Hyatt scores with a kick to the midsection.
Belt seems to have got his legs back now.
Hyatt listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Jimmy Hyatt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hyatt lands with a good body shot.
Hyatt lands with a shot to the body.

Hyatt cracks Belt with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Belt looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Hyatt finish him?
Red Belt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hyatt lands a leg kick that knocks Belt off balance momentarily.
Belt avoids the body shot from Hyatt.
Belt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hyatt is fending him off so far but Belt persists. Nope, Hyatt circles away and we're back to standing.

Hyatt moves into the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Still in the clinch, Hyatt scores with a nice short uppercut.
Hyatt lands with a light punch inside.
Hyatt misses with a short punch on the inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Hyatt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Red Belt's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Hyatt throws a nice inside leg kick.
Hyatt connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Hyatt with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Hyatt looks for the body kick but Belt saw that one coming.

Hyatt lands a big uppercut and Belt crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Belt looks OK. Hyatt waves Belt back to his feet!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hyatt connects with a body shot.
Belt avoids the body shot from Hyatt.
Belt has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hyatt finds it's way round the side to connect with Belt's head.
Hyatt connects with a body shot.
Hyatt dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Horrible takedown by Belt or perhaps it was just good defense by Hyatt which made him look bad.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hyatt looks to score with a jab to the body but Belt is just out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hyatt. Belt does a little dance to reset his feet.
Belt shoots in but Hyatt avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hyatt fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Hyatt lands a jab to Belt's midsection.
Hyatt fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Belt on the side of the head.
Hyatt works Belt's body with a nice hook.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Belt avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Belt takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hyatt cracks Belt with a right hand to the side of the head.
Hyatt lands a jab to the nose.

Belt tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
and Hyatt counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Belt! He's just covering up as Hyatt starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jimmy Hyatt!
