Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Han Solo Berger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 20 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rory Markman!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Berger closes the distance and pushes Markman back into the cage.
Berger swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Markman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Berger slowing the pace effectively.
Markman blocking some punches.
Markman tries to pull guard but Berger won't allow it.
Markman tries to pull guard but Berger holds him up against the cage and eventually Markman drops back down to his feet.
Han Solo Berger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rory Markman.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

It looks like Rory Markman has been cut.
Berger doesn't manage to clinch there - Markman circles away.
Berger throws a chopping leg kick but Markman manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Berger scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Markman drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Berger counters with an outside leg kick.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Markman counters with a stiff right hand.
An inside leg kick from Berger misses.

and Markman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Berger's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Markman wants to pass the guard but Berger is keeping the position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Markman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Markman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
