Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sylvester Gallegos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abe Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Abe Cain has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sylvester Gallegos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Abe Cain!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cain changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gallegos looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cain takes a little break here. Gallegos wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Gallegos tries to bench press Cain off him but Cain keeps the position.
An elbow from Cain crashes against the mat.
Gallegos is not content to let Cain control the position.
Cain happy to just control the position for now.
Cain trying to control the action but Gallegos is working from the bottom.
Cain tries to advance to mount but Gallegos denies him.

Cain stands up and beckons Gallegos to his feet.
Cain lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Sylvester Gallegos has been cut.
Gallegos really is a fat lump.

Cain gets a clinch.

Cain manages to break the clinch.

Cain rushes Gallegos and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Gallegos jumps guard but Cain turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Cain shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cain showed some decent athleticism there.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cain not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Cain is looking to take a break and control but Gallegos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cain is thwarting Gallegos's attempts to control the position.
Cain wants to take a breather but Gallegos is having none of it.
Gallegos tries to roll over but Cain keeps him under control.

Gallegos fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cain, pushing him back against the cage.

Cain has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gallegos uses from the top position.

Cain manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Gallegos is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Gallegos distracts Cain with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Gallegos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gallegos is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cain is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cain has escaped and now he's on top!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Gallegos keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cain's head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cain is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Cain is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Cain looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Gallegos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gallegos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gallegos has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Gallegos throws some wild stikes that Cain manages to avoid easily.

Gallegos jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Cain is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Cain and Gallegos has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Gallegos throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Gallegos is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cain knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cain is trying to control Gallegos's posture but Gallegos avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abe Cain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Cain closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gallegos quickly recovers to half guard.
Gallegos keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Cain is keen to just control but Gallegos is a slippery customer.
Gallegos is trying to get back to full guard.
Gallegos is staying active underneath Cain, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Cain shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cain was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Gallegos is looking to clinch but Cain is avoiding it.
Cain ducks under a wild hook from Gallegos.

Cain closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cain lands in his opponent's guard.
Gallegos looking for a sweep. Not yet Gallegos, not yet.

Gallegos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cain is stalling in the full guard.
Cain wants to stand but Gallegos is controlling his posture from full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Gallegos tries to clinch but Cain moves away

and Cain counters by clinching up.
Gallegos has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Cain after a bit of a struggle.
Gallegos tries to pull guard but Cain won't allow it.

Cain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Cain throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gallegos was covering up waiting for the punch and Cain finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cain takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cain controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Gallegos keeping moving, preventing Cain from controlling successfully.

Gallegos is trying to keep Cain in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Abe Cain.

Cain closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gallegos is working for takedown but Cain is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sylvester Gallegos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cain lands a takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gallegos wants to stand up but Cain is controlling him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cain looking to sit in guard and control but Gallegos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Abe Cain comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cain has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
