Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lars Yemlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nate Jones has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Lars Yemlin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lars Yemlin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nate Jones!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Jones duly obliges.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Yemlin is defended easily by Jones.
Jones throws a right and a left that Yemlin avoids nicely.
Jones tries to clinch up but Yemlin circles away and keeps his distance.
A bone on bone clash there as Jones blocks the leg kick.
Yemlin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Yemlin is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jones.
Jones is trying hard to land a takedown here. Yemlin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Yemlin wants to clinch.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones throws an overhand right that lands on Yemlin's shoulder, as Yemlin tries to avoid the shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Yemlin throws a series of strikes that have Jones backpedaling.


It looks like Nate Jones has been cut.
Jones swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Yemlin counters with a single leg into guard. Jones didn't expect that.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Jones controls Yemlin momentarily but Yemlin frees himself.
Yemlin wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Yemlin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Jones gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Yemlin tries to stand and escape but Jones actually recovers to full guard.
Yemlin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Yemlin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Yemlin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yemlin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yemlin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones is looking for a triangle here but Yemlin uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Yemlin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.
Jones is looking to regain half guard here but Yemlin keeps moving and retains side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jones is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Yemlin is controlling him well.

Yemlin decides to stand back up. Yemlin steps back and let's Jones get back to his feet.

Jones goes for a takedown attempt but Yemlin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Yemlin dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Yemlin's head and hops out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lars Yemlin will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Yemlin wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.

Jones gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Yemlin to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Jones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Yemlin defends well.

Jones drops Yemlin with a beautiful combination! Yemlin stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Jones is looking for the KO!

Lars Yemlin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones is not content to let Yemlin control the position.

Jones turns into Yemlin and is now in his guard.

You can see the frustration on Yemlin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Yemlin takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Yemlin is trying to get back to half guard.
Yemlin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jones asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Jones decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Jones shoots in but no luck this time.

Yemlin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Yemlin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Yemlin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Jones wants to take the fight to the mat but Yemlin manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Yemlin is looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lars Yemlin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Yemlin shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Yemlin slips a jab and a cross from Jones.

Nate Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Jones tries to land a front kick but Yemlin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Yemlin has hold of one of Jones's legs. Jones is fighting the takedown attempt but Yemlin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Yemlin goes for a double leg but Jones avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jones continues to drive forward.

Jones is working an open guard so Yemlin takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Yemlin shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Yemlin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The ground and pound from Yemlin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Yemlin has control of an arm but Jones manages to advance to Yemlin's back!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jones is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Yemlin has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Nate Jones.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
