Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zhelin Li!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin James!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James swings for the body but Li moves out of range.
Li dodges the punch combination from James.
James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
James throws a right and a left that both miss.
Li tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but James defends well and Li ends up having to push James into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Li tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. James smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zhelin Li. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Li tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but James paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Li drives through with a takedown into James's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Li.
James looking for a sweep. Not yet James, not yet.
Li wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
Li slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Li won't allow James to get back to his feet.
Li advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Li is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
James is not content to let Li control the position.
Li is thwarting James's attempts to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James makes his way to full guard. A much better position for James.
Li advances position into side control!
James gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Li throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Li has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Li is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But James has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from James!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

James loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
James throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
James advances position into side control!
Li sneaks back into half guard.
Li trying to control from the bottom.
James thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Li preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
James works his way into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Li is rocked!
James loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Li scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from James land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. James stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kevin James!
Kevin James decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
