Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edgars Simans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaspars Timma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaspars Timma will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Timma throws a push kick but Simans slaps the foot to one side.
Simans misses with a low kick as Timma jumps back.
Simans tried to score with a low kick but Timma checks it.
We've been hearing reports that Simans has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Timma wants to clinch up but Simans keeps it at a distance.
Simans is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Timma throws a lazy head kick

and Simans counters with a single leg into guard. Timma didn't expect that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Simans throws an elbow that misses. Timma uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Simans's guard. Nice move by Timma!

Simans is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Timma defends well.

Simans seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Timma does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Simans throws out a leg kick but Timma moves out of range and Simans only half commits.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Simans moves forwards but Timma connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Kaspars Timma seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Timma keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Timma has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Simans.
Timma avoids the body shot from Simans.

It looks like Edgars Simans has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Simans misses with a body shot.
Timma lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
A looping hook to the body misses from Simans. Timma does a little dance to reset his feet.
Timma tries to close the distance and clinch up but Simans swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Simans walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Timma checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

A clash of legs there as Timma blocks the low kick.
Timma takes a swing at Simans's ribcage but misses.
Timma throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Timma moves into the clinch.
Simans has Timma pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Timma manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
