Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Emmett Valencia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emmett Valencia has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Emmett Valencia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Leonard Carlson!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlson throws a leg kick that misses.
Valencia's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Carlson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Valencia scrambles back to his feet.

Carlson scores with a takedown into Valencia's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Carlson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Carlson trying to control but Valencia is working from the bottom.
Valencia throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Valencia wants to stand and escape but Carlson is having none of it.
Carlson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Valencia has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Leonard Carlson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Valencia has control of Carlson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Carlson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Valencia will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Leonard Carlson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Valencia takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Carlson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Leonard Carlson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Carlson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
