PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Keosayan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimi Iceman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sergey Keosayan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kimi Iceman!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Iceman gets a takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Keosayan looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Keosayan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Keosayan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Keosayan wants to sweep but no luck.
Keosayan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Iceman's guard.
Iceman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Keosayan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Iceman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Keosayan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Keosayan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Keosayan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Iceman dives on top into guard.
Keosayan manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Iceman sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Iceman is staying active underneath Keosayan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Keosayan tries to pass to full mount but Iceman defends it.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Iceman holds on and takes a little breather.
Iceman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Keosayan trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Iceman manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Keosayan is on top in guard.
Keosayan advances to half guard.
Iceman tries to roll over but Keosayan keeps him under control.
Keosayan lands strikes from half guard.
Keosayan misses with a head shot. Iceman uses the momentum to regain guard.
Keosayan slips nicely into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Keosayan wants to free his trapped foot but Iceman is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Iceman works his way to full guard. Good work.
Iceman keeping moving, preventing Keosayan from controlling successfully.
Iceman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Iceman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sergey Keosayan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Keosayan looks to land a left hand but Iceman moved out of range nicely.

Keosayan slips under a jab from Iceman.
Keosayan swings for the body but Iceman moves out of range.
Iceman shoots in for a double leg but Keosayan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Iceman keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Iceman defending well as Keosayan loads up on a big left hand.
Kimi Iceman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Iceman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Keosayan.
Iceman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Keosayan tries to avoid it but Iceman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Keosayan to the ground. Keosayan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Keosayan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Iceman defends well and Keosayan ends up having to push Iceman into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Iceman tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Iceman's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Iceman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Keosayan uses from the top position.

Iceman controls Keosayan momentarily but Keosayan frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Keosayan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Iceman is keeping the position for now.
Iceman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Iceman wants to control but Keosayan passes easily into half guard.
Sergey Keosayan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Keosayan passes to full mount!

Keosayan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Keosayan misses with a head shot.
Iceman is trying to reverse the position but instead Keosayan has taken his back - oops!

Iceman is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Iceman felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Iceman looking very determined here, making life difficult for Keosayan.

Keosayan is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Iceman has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Keosayan has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Iceman taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Keosayan doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Sergey Keosayan!
A very excited looking Sergey Keosayan made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
