The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maurer swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Gaarlandt counters with a series of strikes. Maurer will be more careful next time no doubt.
Gaarlandt staying out of range there.
Franz Maurer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maurer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gaarlandt manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gaarlandt takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Gaarlandt lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Maurer backs up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maurer swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Gaarlandt counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Maurer just misses with a punch to the body.
Maurer throws a right hand that misses
and Gaarlandt counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gaarlandt uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Maurer.

Maurer takes the fight into the clinch.

Gaarlandt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gaarlandt circles away from the clinch attempt.
Maurer throws a hook but Gaarlandt blocks it.
Gaarlandt displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Maurer throws out the jab.
Maurer takes a jab right on the kisser.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gaarlandt lands a left and a right that send Maurer crashing to the mat, dazed. Gaarlandt thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Maurer throws an off balance right hand
and Gaarlandt counters with a deadly accurate combination that rocks Maurer badly! He tries to strike back but Gaarlandt puts an end to that with another precision combo that knocks Maurer out cold! Oh man, Maurer will never hear the end of this one!
