PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Bentner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lester McKay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bentner comes to the cage accompanied by My Dick. McKay has chosen Hammer To Fall - Queen as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Bentner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lester McKay!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Ben Hemmingworth and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McKay moves into the clinch successfully.
McKay stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
McKay can't find room to land a body shot as Bentner controls the action.
McKay is trying to break free.
McKay is looking to control Bentner's arms but Bentner gets an underhook and turns him. Now McKay has his back to the cage.
McKay tries to land knees in the clinch but Bentner avoids the damage to the body.
McKay takes a shot to the head.
Bentner changes levels and goes for a takedown here. McKay fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Bentner has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. McKay avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Bentner has been working on his balance at Finch Farm, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by McKay.

McKay manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

McKay is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Bentner throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and McKay works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
McKay wants to control but Bentner is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bentner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McKay is looking to escape.
McKay wants to improve his position but Bentner is controlling well.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McKay can do anything to dispel that myth.
McKay wants to get back to his feet but Bentner is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

McKay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bentner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bentner is looking to work some ground and pound but McKay has wrist control.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bentner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bentner turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bentner manages to end up in side control.

Nick Bentner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bentner remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Bentner lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear McKay down.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

McKay is rocked!

McKay is still in real trouble! Can Bentner finish him?
Bentner is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. McKay can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

McKay is desperately trying to improve his position but Bentner has a good base and remains in mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bentner looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has McKay covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
