PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeffery Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manny Fernando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Green comes to the cage accompanied by King Of Rock - Run DMC. Fernando is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Miss Jackson. The key to victory for Jeffery Green has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeffery Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Manny Fernando!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Fernando.

Fernando closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Green's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Green is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Green seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Fernando wants to control from the top but Green keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Manny Fernando hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Green seems a little lost for a moment, as Fernando dominates the positioning.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fernando content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Fernando wants to stand but Green has his arm trapped.

Green works his way to full guard. Good work.
Green lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Fernando!

Green lands a couple of good shots and Fernando has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Fernando felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Green is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Fernando is defending well though. Green let's go of the attempt for now.

Fernando just trying to survive but Green is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Green has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Fernando has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A thudding body kick lands there by Green!
Fernando slips under a jab.
Fernando wants to clinch up but Green keeps it at a distance.
Fernando fails to land the takedown.
Fernando shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Green pinned against the cage. Green gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Green moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Fernando wants to control but Green is keeping busy.

Fernando has hold of Green's hands but Green slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Green looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fernando with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Green is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Fernando is trying to stand back up but Green is controlling him
Fernando is looking for a sweep. Green is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Green throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Green thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fernando's head.
Green tries to pass to full mount but Fernando defends it.
Fernando is refusing to be controlled, as Green sits in half guard.
Fernando is looking to improve his position.
Jeffery Green overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fernando is on top in guard.

Green has his foot on Fernando's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fernando works his way back into a safe position though.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Green gets a double leg takedown into Fernando's guard.
Fernando pulls Green in close to his closed guard and prevents Green from doing any damage or advancing position.
