Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elmo Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smith Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lewis counters by moving into the clinch.
Lewis is trying to force a seperation but Black has the dominant position.
Black manages to break the clinch.
Black closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lewis quickly recovers to half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Black not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Black thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lewis's head.
Lewis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Black.
Black has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lewis is staying active underneath Black, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Lewis feints and then cracks Black's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Black down.
Lewis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Black to the ground. Lewis is now in Black's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lewis wants to stand but Black is controlling his posture from full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Black falls off balance throwing a combination
so Lewis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lewis postures up and lands a big shot to Black's brow.
Lewis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Black wants to sweep here but Lewis controlling him for the moment.
Lewis drops back, looking for a kneebar! Black looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Black looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Black!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lewis avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Black.
Black working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Black creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lewis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Black swings around for an armbar but Lewis sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Black's guard.

Black is trying to control the position but Lewis postures up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Smith Black hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Black shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Black is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lewis is just riding it out for now. Black eventually gives up the hold.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Black has eaten all the pies!

Black looking for a submission but Lewis manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Lewis keeping moving, preventing Black from controlling successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Black accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Black wants to pass the guard but Lewis is keeping the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Black bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lewis parries the strikes from Black easily there. Black is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lewis to escape.
Black tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Black has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Black is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lewis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Black. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Black tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lewis swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Elmo Lewis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
