The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slamen shoots in looking for a takedown. Monday tries to sprawl out of it but Slamen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Monday manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Slamen has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Monday lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Monday fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Slamen.
Monday throws a sloppy head kick and Slamen moves out of range easily.
Slamen chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Monday can pounce on him.
Slamen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Monday defends it nicely.
Blue Monday has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Troy Slamen.
No luck for Slamen with that takedown attempt.
Slamen takes one to the chin there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Monday counters with a slapping leg kick.
Slamen is still on wobbly legs! Can Monday finish him?
Monday looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Monday backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Slamen's temple! It sends Slamen violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Monday celebrates and the doctors try to help Slamen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Blue Monday!
After the fight, Blue Monday was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
