Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zoe Washburn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 20 - 3, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patrick Kenzie!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenzie ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Washburn moves away.
Kenzie throws a right and a left that both miss.
Washburn scores with a hook to the body. Kenzie takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Kenzie swats away the attempt to clinch by Washburn.

Washburn rushes Kenzie and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Washburn stalling in the clinch but Kenzie improves position.
Washburn just leaning against Kenzie, taking a breather.
Washburn can't get the takedown.
Washburn is looking for a takedown.
Washburn trying to control the position but instead, Kenzie has worked for underhooks and has pushed Washburn into the cage.
Washburn blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Washburn fails to land.
Kenzie is struggling to control the position.
Washburn jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kenzie walks away with a smile on his face. Washburn gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Washburn wants to control from the top but Kenzie keeps moving.
Kenzie pulls Washburn in close to his closed guard and prevents Washburn from doing any damage or advancing position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Washburn is looking for a sweep. Kenzie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
My spies in The Warehouse inform me that Kenzie has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Washburn flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Washburn is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Franklin D. Bluth Memorial Supergym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Washburn regains half guard.
Washburn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kenzie tries to stand and escape but Washburn is controlling the position.
Washburn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Washburn regains full guard. Nicely done.

Kenzie decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Washburn is working for takedown but Kenzie is calmly controlling the position for now.

Kenzie lands a big right hand that drops Washburn! The killer instinct kicks in and Kenzie finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Kenzie!
