PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chan-Sung Jung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrzej Gajewski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gajewski has chosen Stratosphere as his entrance music. Chan-Sung Jung had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chan-Sung Jung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrzej Gajewski!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gajewski works the jab nicely.

Jung drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Gajewski sneaks back into half guard.
Gajewski felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Jung misses with a head shot. Gajewski uses the momentum to regain guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Chan-Sung Jung just wasn't active enough.
Gajewski bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Jung misses with an uppercut.
Jung lands a leg kick that knocks Gajewski off balance momentarily.
Gajewski lands with a straight right. Jung didn't see that one coming.
Jung throws a leg kick but Gajewski moved away.
Jung takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Gajewski misses the shot to the body.
Gajewski ducks under a wild hook from Jung.

Jung lands a front kick.
Gajewski uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jung has time to react.

Gajewski tries to sprawl but Jung drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Gajewski is trying to maintain the position but Jung is very close to passing his half guard.
Gajewski slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
We've been hearing good reports from Jung's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That was a close round but I would say that Chan-Sung Jung will probably get the nod.
That's time! Jung's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Jung turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Gajewski avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jung lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Jung fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gajewski has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Gajewski feints and then cracks Jung's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jung down.
Jung throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jung chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Gajewski can pounce on him.
Jung lands with a straight right. Gajewski didn't see that one coming.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gajewski throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Jung throws a quick inside leg kick.

A punch lands to the side of Gajewski 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Jung fails in his attempt to clinch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Jung.
Jung lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Gajewski lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Gajewski connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Jung momentarily.
Gajewski tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

and Gajewski counters with an inside leg kick.
Jung throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A solid leg kick lands there for Jung.
Jung throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gajewski sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jung throws a hook but Gajewski blocks it.
Gajewski looks to land a left hand but Jung moved out of range nicely.

Gajewski leaves Jung with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gajewski pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Jung throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Jung tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gajewski sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jung somewhat.
Gajewski's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gajewski. Jung does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gajewski lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jung darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
A clash of legs there as Gajewski blocks the low kick.
Jung throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Jung tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jung thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Gajewski if he has to take too many more of those.
Gajewski takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jung throws a shot to the body.
Jung shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Jung with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Jung throws a hook but Gajewski avoids it easily.
Gajewski shoots in for a takedown but Jung shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Gajewski lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Good leg kick by Jung there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Jung fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gajewski manages to avoid it.
Gajewski takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Chan-Sung Jung seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A head kick misses from Gajewski.
Jung buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Gajewski moves out of range of the body kick.
Jung uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gajewski.
Jung shoots in for a takedown but Gajewski shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chan-Sung Jung. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jung paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Gajewski throws a quick inside leg kick.
Jung clobbers Gajewski with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Jung bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gajewski thuds his right hand into Jung's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Jung misses with a wild body shot.
Jung takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chan-Sung Jung dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Gajewski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jung lands a really nice looking cross but Gajewski seems unphased.

Jung throws a right hand that Gajewski ducks under and follows up with a left that Gajewski also avoids with ease.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jung is defended easily by Gajewski.

Gajewski avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Gajewski has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Gajewski swings widly with a right hand

and Jung counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jung throwing shots but Gajewski is blocking nicely.

Jung is trying to control the action in half guard but Gajewski is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jung is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gajewski is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Jung is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Gajewski!
Chan-Sung Jung is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jung lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
