Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akira Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Peters is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akira Akiyama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Peters!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peters uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Akiyama.
Akiyama just misses with a punch to the body.
Akiyama lands with an uppercut that bounces Peters off the cage and back into range.
Akira Akiyama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Akiyama tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Peters was well out of range. Poor timing from Akiyama.
Peters avoids a punch combination nicely.
Akiyama lands a nice hook to Peters's body. Peters takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Akiyama gets a clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Akiyama manages to pull guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Peters stops Akiyama from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peters trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Akiyama knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peters on the ground.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Peters takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Akiyama swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Peters counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Akiyama misses with a looping right.
Akiyama looks to score with a jab to the body but Peters is just out of range.
Akiyama misses with a body shot.
Akiyama buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Peters looks winded!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Akiyama gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Peters regains guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Akiyama stops Peters from standing up.
Peters not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Akiyama gets a clinch.

Akiyama has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Peters is trying to keep an underhook but Akiyama manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Akiyama tries to stand but can't do so whilst Peters controls his leg.
Peters preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Akiyama will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Peters checks the leg kick nicely there.
A nice leg kick lands there from Akiyama.

Akiyama clinches up against the cage.

Akiyama has picked Peters up - he's going for a ride! Akiyama dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Peters flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Akiyama wants to stand but Peters has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Peters trying to hold on to Akiyama's head to control him but Akiyama postures up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Akiyama has closed the distance and engaged Peters in a clinch.

Akiyama pulls guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Akiyama wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Peters manages to pass to side control.
Peters throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akira Akiyama dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Akiyama throws a head kick that misses.
Peters stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Akiyama.
Akiyama fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Akiyama sends Peters crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Akiyama is motioning to the referee to let Peters up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Akiyama fakes the body blow, causing Peters to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Peters goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Akira Akiyama!
Akira Akiyama decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
