PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Walls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Teddy Walls!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jones.
Walls is looking for a sweep.
Jones takes a little break here. Walls wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Walls parries the strikes from Jones easily there. Jones is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Walls to escape.
Walls wants to control but Jones postures up.
Walls really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Walls tries to bench press Jones off him but Jones keeps the position.
A lull in the action here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jon Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walls gets full guard.

Walls is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.

Walls is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Walls can't keep his opponent in guard - Jones advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Walls wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walls is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jones scores with a couple of nice shots.

Jones is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Walls is just riding it out for now. Jones eventually gives up the hold.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Jones wants to control from the top but Walls keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jon Jones.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jones is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Walls is trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walls sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Walls's guard.

Jon Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Jones tries to keep at a distance but Walls has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jones tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Walls has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jones avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones is stalling here.
Walls tries to pull guard but Jones won't allow it.

Walls breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Walls looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Walls tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Walls.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Walls is trying to escape the position but Jones is controlling the position.
Jones wants to control but Walls is keeping him busy.

Walls tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Walls manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jones's best efforts.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Walls tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control.
Jones throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Jones takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jones with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Walls works his way to full guard. Good work.

Jones not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jon Jones wasn't active enough on the ground.

Walls gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Walls manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Jon Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jones winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
